Lee Shapiro


Lee Shapiro is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Allscripts, a publicly-traded provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions to physicians. Mr. Shapiro is responsible for the Chicago-based company’s strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business development and partnerships, and operations, as well as business activities addressing Allscripts pharmaceutical services and Internet-based consumer health services.

Since accepting the Allscripts post in 2000, Mr. Shapiro has directed Allscripts’ mergers and acquisitions of ChannelHealth, Advanced Imaging Concepts, RxCentric, A4 Health Systems, and most recently, Misys Healthcare. He is the executive sponsor for the Company’s key strategic relationships, including those with Microsoft, Dell, Fujitsu, Intel, and Wolters Kluwer Health. Additionally, Mr. Shapiro is Allscripts’ representative to the board of directors of Medem, a San Francisco healthcare software company.

Prior to joining Allscripts, Mr. Shapiro was the Chief Operating Officer of Douglas Elliman-Beitler, a premier commercial office management and development company, where he directed all business activities throughout the United States. Before that, Mr. Shapiro practiced commercial law at Barack, Ferrazzano, Kirschbaum, Perlman and Nagelberg, a prominent Chicago law firm. Mr. Shapiro also previously served as president of SES Properties, Inc. of Carlsbad, Calif., a closely held, fully integrated real estate company and, at that time, the largest retail developer inLas Vegas, Nev. Concurrently, Mr. Shapiro formed City Financial Bancorp in 1986 and served as its Vice Chairman. He was responsible for acquisition of financial institutions, financing, regulatory issues, legal affairs, review and restructuring of operations and the ultimate sale of this $100 million holding company.

Mr. Shapiro holds a J.D. degree from The University of Chicago Law School. He serves on the board of the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation (GIRF) and Opus North Corporation.
