LIBERTYVILLE, IL – April 28, 2009 – Lee Shapiro, President and Chief Operating Officer of Allscripts, has joined the Board of Directors of Physicians Interactive (PI). PI is a leading multi-channel, interactive marketing company providing marketing solutions to life science companies. Alongside Mr. Sharpiro on the PI Board of Directors is Norman C. Selby, Senior Managing Director at Perseus, and Donato Tramuto, Chief Executive Officer of Physicians Interactive.
In September of 2008, Allscripts sold PI to a fund managed by Perseus, L.L.C., a merchant bank and private equity fund management company. As a preferred provider of Allscripts solutions for physicians, PI is collaborating with Allscripts on innovative and novel offerings that leverage Allscripts strength as the leading provider of electronic health records and e-prescribing solutions.
As the President and COO of Allscripts, a publicly-traded provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions to physicians, Mr. Shapiro is responsible for the Chicago-based company’s strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business development and partnerships, and operations, as well as business activities addressing Allscripts pharmaceutical services and Internet-based consumer health services.
Since assuming his post in 2002, he has directed the company’s key strategic relationships, including those with Microsoft, Dell, Intel, and Physicians Interactive. Additionally, Mr. Sharpiro is the Allscripts representative to the board of directors of Medem. He serves on the board of the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation (GIRF) in Chicago.
