Program Saving Lives and Improving Patient Care Around the Globe
Las Vegas, NV (February 21, 2011) – Today, Health eVillages announced that Donato J. Tramuto, the program’s founder and CEO and Vice Chairman of Physicians Interactive, will present the human story of how mobile healthcare apps are helping clinicians improve patient care in the most challenging global healthcare environments at HIMSS12 Annual Conference & Exhibition. During this presentation, Mr. Tramuto will share real-world examples about the impact Health eVillages has had on the health of real people at pilot sites in Haiti, China, Uganda, Kenya and rural Louisiana. Mr. Tramuto will also present testimony of how the mobile devices and app provided to healthcare providers in a hospital in Lwala, Kenya was directly responsible for saving a young mother and her infant’s life when complications arose during child birth.
Health eVillages was founded in partnership with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights and Physicians Interactive in 2011, to empower clinicians to deliver safe and efficient medical care in the most challenging clinical environments, anywhere in the world, by providing the latest in mobile healthcare technology. The program provides handheld devices, such as iPods or iPads, to healthcare professionals in developing countries, which includes specialized medical reference content and clinical decision support tools powered by Skyscape; and then provide training for the devices so clinicians in these areas can provide higher quality care to their patients.
“We believe everyone around the globe should have access to high-quality healthcare,” said Donato Tramuto, CEO and Vice Chairman of Physicians Interactive. “At Health eVillages, we’re not willing to wait and we hope sharing real-world examples at HIMSS12 of how mobile technology is making a difference and improving the quality of care around the world, will inspire others to join with us and get involved in Health eVillages.”
The HIMSS12 presentation, titled No Power, No Internet, No Problem: Mobile HIT Improves Care Worldwide, will take place on Thursday, February 23 at 9:45 a.m. PT in Marco Polo 803 at the Venetian Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

About the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights
The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights was founded in 1968 by Robert Kennedy’s family and friends as a living memorial to carry forward his vision of a more just and peaceful world. Through long-term partnerships and cutting-edge methods at the Center for Human Rights, we engage in long-term partnerships with human rights activists who have won the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award to initiate and support sustainable social justice movements. We support authors and investigative journalists who bring light to injustice through the RFK Book and Journalism Awards. Our Speak Truth To Power program educates the public and provides students with a toolkit for action to create change in the classroom, the community, nationally, and internationally. The RFK Compass Program works with institutional investors to advance a discussion of the connections among investment performance, fiduciary duty, and public interest issues to optimize risk-adjusted rates of returns and address current and future global challenges. Partnering with RFK Europe, we provide human rights education advocacy programs to schools and communities across the continent. With RFK Children’s Action Corps, we urge legislative reform of juvenile justice systems. The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization.
